This policy explains what personal information Crowd Control Digital, LLC (“Crowd Control,” “we,” “us”) collects through crowdcontroldigital.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website, our free audit, and the emails and checkout that come with it. It does not cover the work we do for clients under contract, which is governed by those agreements.
[ 01 ]What we collect
What you give us
- Briefs. When you send a brief: your name, email, company (if you add it) and your message.
- Audit requests. When you request a free audit: the brand or artist name, a website or social link, the category and goal you pick, and your email. We also keep where you came from (for example the ad or campaign tags in the link you clicked).
- Payments. When you buy a full audit, Stripe collects your payment details. We never see or store your full card number. We receive your email, the amount and a payment reference.
- Booking a call. When you book through our scheduling link, Reclaim collects your name, email and the time you choose.
- Emails with us. Anything you write to us by email.
What we collect automatically
- Device and usage data. Pages you view, links you click, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and your IP address. Our host keeps standard server logs.
- Cookies and similar tools. Set by us, Meta and Google, described under Cookies and tracking below.
- A one-way scramble of your IP address when you request an audit, so we can limit how many audits one visitor starts in a day. We do not keep the address itself with the request.
What we research
An audit is built from public information about the brand or artist you name: their website, search results, public social profiles and public posts, and comparable brands or artists. If you name a person, that means public information about them as a public figure. We do not buy data about you or look up private information.
The game
If you play the homepage game online, we store the game itself (moves, scores and the game code) so players can rejoin. Voice chat connects players directly, browser to browser. We do not record or store it, though a public connection service run by Google sees the IP addresses involved in setting up the call.
[ 02 ]How we use it
- To reply to your brief and talk about working together.
- To build, review and deliver your audit, and send you the emails that go with it (the link to open it, when it is ready, and a few reminders and follow ups, each with a link to stop them).
- To take payment, prevent fraud and keep records we are required to keep.
- To understand how the site is used and make it better.
- To measure our advertising and show our ads to people likely to be interested, including people who have visited the site.
- To keep the site secure, stop spam and enforce our terms.
[ 03 ]Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it with companies that run parts of the site for us, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosting the site, and its server logs |
| Supabase | The database that stores briefs, audit requests and payments records |
| Resend | Sending email |
| Stripe | Payments |
| Reclaim | Booking calls |
| Slack | Notifying our team of a new brief or audit request |
| Anthropic, Apify and Google PageSpeed | Researching and writing audits. They receive the brand or artist details you submit, not your email |
| Google Analytics | Site analytics |
| Meta | Measuring and targeting our ads on Facebook and Instagram |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or anyone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business.
[ 04 ]Cookies and tracking
We use the Meta Pixel and Meta’s Conversions API to tell Meta when someone visits the site, sends a brief, requests or opens an audit, starts checkout, pays, or clicks to book a call. Meta matches those events to its users so we can see which ads work and show ads to similar people. When we send them from our server, they include a scrambled (hashed) version of your email where you gave us one. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see how people use the site.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp, _fbc | Meta | Recognizes your browser and the ad you clicked | 90 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Counts visits and sessions | 2 years | |
| cc-optout | Us | Remembers that you opted out of ad sharing | 1 year |
The site also stores a few small settings in your browser, like whether you have seen the intro, your sound setting and the campaign tags you arrived with. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics, and Meta lets you manage ad preferences in your account settings.
[ 05 ]Your choice on ad sharing
Under California law, letting Meta use site activity to show you ads can count as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out with the switch on this page. We also honor Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends that signal, we treat it as an opt out automatically. Once you opt out, this browser stops sending activity to Meta, from the page and from our server. Google Analytics keeps counting visits, for our own analytics only.
[ 06 ]How long we keep it
- Briefs and audit requests: as long as we are talking, and up to three years after, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Payment records: seven years, for tax and accounting.
- Online games: while they are being played, and we clear out old ones from time to time.
- Analytics and ad data: under Google’s and Meta’s own retention settings.
[ 07 ]Security
The site runs over HTTPS, access to our admin is limited to our team, and audit links are private and hard to guess. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission, but we work to prevent it and will tell you if it affects you as the law requires.
[ 08 ]Your rights
If you live in California, or in another state with a similar law, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we have it and who we shared it with.
- Give you a copy of it.
- Correct it.
- Delete it.
- Stop sharing it for targeted advertising (the switch on this page does this right away).
We do not use sensitive personal information to infer things about you, and we will not treat you differently for using any of these rights. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will confirm it is you by checking it against the email we have, and reply within 45 days. You can have an authorized agent ask for you, with your written permission. If we turn down a request, you can reply to appeal and we will look at it again.
[ 09 ]Children
The site is for businesses and the people who work with them. It is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
[ 10 ]Other sites
The site links to other sites, like our clients’ work, our scheduling page and the journal’s sources. Their own privacy policies apply there.
[ 11 ]Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site or email you if we have your address.
